According to a 2008 study by Initiative Neue Soziale Marktwirtschaft and the magazine Wirtschaftswoche, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is ranked as the second-most dynamic economic region nationwide, topped only by Hamburg. The economic growth experienced in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the first half-year 2007 – 4 % – was the strongest in all of Germany.
Since 2004 Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s rate of unemployment has fallen at a rate unmatched by any other area in Germany.

Construction of new headquarters for Oehm und Rehbein GmbH
Oehm und Rehbein GmbH, a leading provider of medical system solutions, will begin construction of its new headquarters in Rostock in February, creating up to 10 new jobs. Oehm und Rehbein has had a presence in Rostock since the beginning of the 1990s, and is expanding its operations to keep pace with growing demand in the medical industry. SUZLON Energy GmbH expanding its Rostock location
SUZLON Energy GmbH, with offices in Rostock, Hamburg and Berlin, has taken a further significant step towards strengthening its commitment to the Hanseatic City of Rostock. The project for its new offices was planned by the architecture firm Pilote and will be executed by local construction companies. Well-known freight forwarder opens new branch in Rostock
The well-known freight forwarding company ivetra GmbH opened a branch office in Rostock in November 2009, creating up to 11 new jobs in the Hanseatic City. ivetra provides comprehensive freight forwarding services - both on a national and international level - including truck, heavy load, and special transport, courier service, sea transport, shipping of conventional and project cargo, as well as customer-specific storage, logistics, and distribution solutions. …more»
