Once again, Rostock’s position as the economic centre of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has been reinforced by the recent decision of the cruise operator AIDA Cruises to concentrate its business operations at the Rostock location. This move secures the future of the existing jobs and creates conditions for new, highly qualified jobs in Rostock. The cruise company Seetours, which merged with the present-day AIDA Cruises in 1994, has had its marketing and sales departments located in Neu-Isenburg up to now. AIDA Cruises has offered all 120 employees of these departments a secure and attractive job in Rostock. Rostock Business is actively supporting this process. It has initiated an internet portal providing extensive information about the location. The website is full of feeling, containing impressive pictures and lyrical texts. Additionally, it provides important information about the Hanseatic City. This represents a unique project in the field of business development and is aimed at facilitating the professional relocation of the AIDA employees. In connection to the expansion of the fleet, approximately 1100 new jobs on land and on board the ships will be created by 2009. Renowned shipping companies such as Scandlines AG, F. Laeisz GmbH and the Deutsche Seereederei (DSR) group are located here in Rostock as well. Rostock is also home to production facilities of international companies such as Liebherr, Caterpillar and Aker Yards. Rostock – a location with a future! |
