The Rostock region takes advantage of traditional connections to northern and eastern Europe

The Hanseatic League laid the foundation for the international network of which the Rostock region is an integral part. Rostock’s Hanseatic roots as well as its international importance have been more strongly emphasized since 1990. This is evident in the case of the Hanse Sail. This large-scale maritime event has become an international meeting place and noted business event. Rostock Business, a business and technology development company for the Rostock region, and the State Marketing Association of Mecklenburg-Western Pommerania jointly invite over 200 high ranking representatives of various companies for “Business meets Hanse Sail”.

This is the first event of its kind in Germany. Rostock Business aims to attract investment in Germany by promoting the strong Hanseatic network in the Baltic Sea region. An informative programme showcasing the advantages and potentials of the Rostock region serves as a basis for dialogue and enables the visitor to experience some of the features of the region.

Germany– geographically situated in the middle of Europe, with a standard of science and technology highly regarded world-wide, and a world leader in export - enjoys a good reputation among foreign companies as an excellent location for doing business. Rostock, in particular, provides excellent market opportunities for companies from the southern German-speaking regions: the company Liebherr, for example, established one of the most modern facilities in Europe for the production of mobile port cranes in Rostock. The Rostock region is the turnstile at the intersection of the axes Berlin-Copenhagen and Hamburg-Stettin. The oldest university in northern Europe as well as numerous highly innovative companies in fields such as life sciences and maritime technologies have contributed to Rostock’s development into one of the most dynamic locations in the Baltic Sea region. This location holds many advantages and represents an interesting alternative for investors. The Rostock region, with its seaport, motorway junction A19/A20 and airport, provides excellent logistical conditions and opens up new possibilities for cooperation with partners in northern and eastern European countries.
