Life in the Hanseatic City of Rostock is beautiful, with the Baltic Sea and the river Warnow right at your doorstep.
Welcome to the very attractive beachfront district of the city, the Baltic Sea resort town Rostock-Warnemünde, also affectionately dubbed the `bathtub´ of Berlin. High-quality residential areas, a healthy sea-breeze, close proximity to the beach, a maritime flair during every season, and the romantic coastal forests; altogether, form an extremely attractive place to live.
The Kröpeliner Tor-Vorstadt neighborhood is popular among younger generations. With its proximity to the university facilities and wealth of restaurants, bars and cafés, it is popular with students and young professionals alike.
In the Steintor-Vorstadt neighborhood, the atmosphere is dominated by old villas and Wilhelminian style apartment houses.
Downtown is where life is buzzing. Shopping malls such as the Rostocker Hof, the St. Jacobi Passage and the Kröpeliner Tor Centre invite you to take a stroll through. High class hotels are very centrally located. Restaurants, cafés and pubs in the city center, the old town or on the waterfront at the city harbour are where the city’s inhabitants go to spend an evening out on the town.
The residential areas in the north-west of Rostock have been totally redeveloped and are now very much in demand by both young and old. Convenient shopping centers, such as the Warnow Park with its neighborhood cinema, offer a colorful blend of shopping and entertainment. The health care and service centre in Lütten Klein is a medical complex where many specialists have their practices.
Northeast of Rostock are the conveniently accessible quarters Toitenwinkel, Dierkow and Brinkmannsdorf. Many Rostock inhabitants, particularly young families, enjoy living in the Reutershagen, Hansaviertel, Gartenstadt and Südstadt neighborhoods.
