The Baltic Sea coast is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Germany. Rostock is likewise host to many international tourists each year.
Holiday in Rostock means swimming and strolling, sailing and shopping, or just relaxing, and enjoying good food. You will be fascinated by the Hanseatic architecture and the enchanting coastal landscape.
The city ´s restaurant scene has something for everyone: the local restaurants’ offerings range from traditional maritime cuisine to exotic and trendy to fine dining.
The city center is where life is buzzing. The shopping scene is spread out over a total area of over 400,000 m² in shopping malls, arcades and small inner-city boutiques which draw international customers as well. There is a wide range of goods and services available in the city.  Customers from all over Europe enjoy strolling through the streets and shops perhaps becoming inspired by the variety of local and international products.

Especially in the summer months, Rostock is a tourist magnet – the city plays host to around one million visitors for the HanseSail and Warnemünder Woche events. Traditional sailing ships and tall ships tie up 3 or 4 deep lining the entire city harbour – an open invitation to stroll on by and have a closer look. And for those pursuing a healthy lifestyle, Rostock has numerous fitness and wellness possibilities.

The city also boasts a wide variety of sporting activities such as sailing, rowing, track and field, handball, football, triathlon, diving and swimming all at competitive level.
In addition to traditional types of sports, Rostock’s location on the Baltic Sea creates a passion for water sports as well. The waters off the coast of Rostock are known as the best sailing territory on the German Baltic Sea coast. The Warnemünder Woche is an event each year in the first week of July focusing on the world of sailing.

The football club FC Hansa Rostock is one of the sporting highlights of the state.
The home stadium of FC Hansa, newly rebuilt in 2002, is one of Europe’s most modern stadiums. A dedicated football stadium with 30,000 covered seats, modern food and beverage facilities, fan merchandise stands and a family section, it draws thousands of football fans from Germany and abroad each year.
