Over 220 national and international industry representatives met up for a second time in the Hanseatic city, following an invitation from the Wind Energy Network Rostock e. V. to find out more about projects and developments in wind energy.
Two days after the launch of “EnBW Baltic 1,” the first German commercial offshore wind energy park, on May 2, 2011 at the coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the wind energy sector met up once again in Rostock to find out what’s new in upcoming wind park projects, products and trends in the sector. The Wind Energy Network Rostock e.V. organised the 2nd Wind Energy Day as a part of the Baltic Future on May 4, 2011 from 10:00am until 5:00pm at the HanseMesse (Zur Hansemesse 1-2, 18106 Rostock) with the leading theme of “Future Fields of Wind Energy.”
Following the successful kick-off event last year, this year’s 2nd Wind Energy Day was held with the theme “Future Fields of Wind Energy.” Stefan Thiele, speaker for the management of EnBW Erneuerbare Energien GmbH, reported the first impressions from the construction and operation of the first commercial German offshore Wind Park EnBW Baltic 1 in the Baltic Sea and offered a peak at the EnBW Baltic 2 project. The expansion of offshore power networks, current developments in the Research & Development sector and further planning of wind energy equipment manufacturer Nordex SE concerning the development of offshore business was also presented by top speakers. International speaker Anders Nilsson presented the Swedish offshore wind-park project called ”Blekinge Offshore,“ which is planned for a capacity of 2,500 MW.
„As an industry network, we support the development of regional wind energy sectors and are happy to see such an excellent response. The event, along with the accompanying exhibit offers local and pan-regional industry representatives a regular possibility to find out more about current projects, products and developments in the sector. Exchange and intensive networking are top priority and in perspective create additional new value for the region,“ summed up Andree Iffländer, chairman of the Wind Energy Network Rostock e.V. „The 2nd Wind Energy Day was an overall successful event which showed the entire spectrum of the wind energy industry,” found Christian Weiß, managing director of Rostock Business.
