The well-known freight forwarding company ivetra GmbH opened a branch office in Rostock in November 2009, creating up to 11 new jobs in the Hanseatic City. ivetra provides comprehensive freight forwarding services - both on a national and international level - including truck, heavy load, and special transport, courier service, sea transport, shipping of conventional and project cargo, as well as customer-specific storage, logistics, and distribution solutions.
This decision by ivetra to open a Rostock location is supported by a cooperation agreement with NORDEX Energy GmbH. ivetra will provide manufacturing logistics services for NORDEX, and will set up a storage facility in a 5,250 m² hall in Rostock-Marienehe in which heavy load items weighing up to 90 tonnes can be stored for order preparation. ivetra will also perform maintenance of the components while they are stored in the facility, as well as a complete quality inspection for fulfilling orders to ensure that only components in perfect working order are delivered.
With a view to new possibilities for cooperation with local companies, Rostock Mayor Roland Methling is sure that the opening of ivertra’s Rostock branch will create additional synergy effects in the Hanseatic City. “ivetra GmbH has an excellent reputation, and I am convinced that their competences will be an asset to the region. Other local companies – not only from the wind energy industry – will come to recognize the cost advantages,” comments Mr. Methling. Rainer Hoppe, General Manager of ivetra GmbH, was attracted by the Rostock’s excellent central location and port infrastructure. “Rostock has the potential to become a very important location for our company and our customers. We intend to expand our services to other manufacturing companies in the region,” comments Mr. Hoppe.
ivetra GmbH is a medium-sized freight forwarding and transportation company, founded in 1989 in Remscheid. Its core competences are the international transport of industrial and capital goods. Particular strengths of the company lie in the disassembly, transport, and re-assembly of machines and equipment, for instance in the case of relocation of production facilities, and in manufacturing logistics and supply, and warehousing and distribution solutions. ivetra’s customers include well-known automotive supply companies. The company currently employs 42 people and has an annual turnover of EUR 10 million.
