With the establishment of a logistics center of the Lidl company at the industrial park “Hafenvorgelände – Ost” just outside the eastern port grounds, Rostock gained even more importance as a logistics center for north-eastern Germany. The 89,000-m²-site is the base for distribution to 65 stores in the states of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg. The large dimensions and the modern technology of the building offer enough capacity to allow Lidl to expand and supply even more stores in the region in coming years. Particularly, the highly-developed infrastructure with a well-developed road network, a motivated and competent workforce, and a well-connected industrial park were the main factors leading Lidl to choose this location.
The company Hangartner is one of the leading forwarders for North-South / South-North transport of goods. The company focuses on transit routes between Scandinavia, Finland, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. Using its own equipment, Hangartner is present in nine European countries with 17 facilities.
