Offshore Wind Energy

Leading the way

The Rostock region is also assuming international leadership with its dynamic offshore wind energy industry. The ideal resources of the region – high-tech companies, wind, and water – attract even more businesses and investors. Germany’s first offshore wind farm was erected here. The proximity to the Rostock port is a major advantage for the export of large onshore and offshore wind energy power plant components. The planned offshore wind farms “Baltic I” and “Kriegers Flak” located off the coast of Rostock will secure the city’s position as a leading location and competence center for offshore wind energy. The Offshore Energies Competence Network Rostock e.V. supports the initiatives in the offshore wind energy industry in the Rostock region.
