The close connection of research and development carried out at universities, research institutes, technology centers and young, innovative companies is a guarantee that the technological requirements of offshore wind energy projects will be met.
The Ministry of Economics of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern promotes the construction and the expansion of technology and research centers that can be used by small and mid-sized companies. Technology-oriented companies receive considerable support in the start-up phase through the provision of suitable premises as well as technology-specific services.
There are presently seven interdisciplinary technology centers in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – mostly in university cities – in Schwerin/Wismar, Parchim, Warnemünde, Rostock, Neubrandenburg, Greifswald, and Stralsund. Technology parks are located in close proximity in Schwerin, Wismar and Warnemünde in order to provide growing companies with an innovative environment for their own investment.
The positive development of the wind energy industry in Rostock and the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will receive further support in the future from OFFSHORE ENERGIES Competence Network Rostock and its partners.
